DEMBA BA: THE MAN WHOSE BROKEN LEG ALMOST ENDED PROFESSIONAL CAREER RETIRES FROM FOOTBALL

Demba Ba retires from professional football at the age of 36. Demba Ba broke his leg in a Chinese Super League match in 2016 Wich almost saw him out of his professional career.

Demba Ba was born on 25th may 1985 in France.He played as a striker during his time as a footballer.Ba made his debut with French team Rouen in 2005.He moved to Mouscron and later to Hoffenheim in Germany in 2007.

Demba Ba Moved to Premier League playing for West ham United making 12 appearances for the club.Westham was relegated to Championships and Demba Moved to Newcastle United.In 2013 Ba moved to Chelsea.He move to Beşiktaş  in Turkey where he stayed for a season. He  later moved to Shanghai Shenhua of the Chinese Super League.Where he met his worst injury in his career in 2016.

Following the injury, Shanghai Shenhua boss Gregorio Manzano assured Ba  of “the best medical treatment” available.

 “It could end Ba’s professional career. I would rather lose the game than lose Ba. God is unfair. Ba is too good to have this happened to him.” He said

Wu Xiaohui, Chairman of Shanghai Shenhua Football Club, broke down in tears when describing the full extent of Ba's horror injury to the media.

Sun Xiang, the player who tackled Ba, visited the striker in hospital as well as Shanghai’s vice-mayor Zhao Wen.

Demba Ba announced his retirement from football  on 13 September  2021.
